This is one of those Lawson errors that could waste a morning of work looking through the Infor knowledge base, analyzing/changing security, and or reviewing logs.

So, you’re on PO20.1 and want to make a change to a PO entry and get this error:

To resolve this is actually incredibly simple and can be changed on PO04.1 at the bottom of the Buyer Information Tab (your settings may be different based on your needs):

If you happen to get a similar issue for a requisition cost change “Requester not authorized to change unit cost”, simply go to RQ04 and allow unit cost override for the specific requester (your settings may be different based on your needs):

To start off the new year, Infor recently announced that TPG Hotels & Resorts has selected the tech giant to standardize property management systems and provide a single source of data across its independent hotel portfolio. The past decade has introduced to a world of advanced technology that has changed the way we live and how we work. With 2020 now here, technology will continue to transform our way of living. Christian Reilly, CTO at Citrix, shares an article on Forbes of the technological trends that will disrupt the future of the workplace in 2020.

The Evolution Of The CIO
“In 2020, the CIO will take on a new moniker: chief innovation officer. And instead of erecting barriers between IT and the business, they will remove them and help to drive growth through innovation. And they’ll focus on the big picture rather than getting down into the weeds.”

An End To App Sprawl
“In the year ahead, we’ll see more companies get serious about eliminating the digital noise that has their people frustrated and disengaged and put solutions in place that actually simplify work and keep employees happy and performing at their best.”

Flexible Work
“The way we think about and do work has completely changed. Traditional models where people work 9 to 5 in physical offices are dead. Today, it’s all about flexibility. Gig and remote work are fast becoming the norm. In 2020, companies will embrace flexible work models to get the right people in the right roles to unlock innovation and move their businesses forward. And they’ll rethink the workplace and create digital workspaces that learn over time how individuals prefer to work, that are contextual, and that deliver the tools, information, and applications people need and prefer to use to perform at their best.”

Artificial Intelligence (AI) And Bots
“AI will continue to become more prevalent in both our personal and professional lives. Futurists foresee a host of applications, ranging from voice assistants that will get smarter and smarter and help us buy more things we don’t really need to bots that will take over menial tasks, freeing employees to focus on meaningful work and even open the door to new opportunities.”

Everything As A Service (EaaS)
“Monolithic architectures of applications will become a thing of the past, replaced by microservice applications. And they will require new ways of thinking about development and new models for operating. Major cloud providers will begin to move into corporate data centers, where they will deliver ‘everything as a service.'”

A Hybrid Cloud World
“In 2020, companies will finally concede that hybrid cloud is the way forward. And they will use the cloud they need when they need to in order to achieve their business goals.”

It’s a new year and many of us make note of “resolutions” they want to accomplish in the next 365 days. While setting a goal is very important, the work is in staying on track. Productivity may be a goal for some in the workplace and it’s difficult to measure your progress unless you plan it out. Britt Joiner at Trello shares her steps on how to plan and track your productivity goals for 2020. This is what she likes to call a “productivity experiment”:

  1. Start by creating a baseline – Like bench-marking, Joiner suggests to measure things like the percentage of your to-do list that you accomplish each day. By scoring yourself for level of focus, effort, and completion, you can track your progress easily.
  2. List out some common productivity advice you want to test (your hypotheses) – In this next step you will list out anything you’ve ever wanted to try to see if it helps you be more productive. Some things that you could test include waking up earlier (or on time) reducing your caffeine intake, standing while working, taking more exercise breaks (or exercise while working), tracking your time, start your day with the hardest task first, or only check emails periodically.
  3. Start trying them—one at a time—and measure the same metrics you recorded in your baseline – Whatever you decided in step 1 as your baseline, it’s time to measure your progress one at a time with the list from step 2. Make sure to be very thorough with your analyses as some days will be different than others and some tasks can be time relevant.
  4. Analyze performance against the baseline – Joiner shares that you’ll likely find that some items will have a small impact on your productivity, some will have a big impact, and some will have none at all. You might even find that some actually make you less productive! Stick with the activities that you find have the most impact.

Track Your Productivity With Trello And Butler

This being an article on Trello, Joiner suggests to track your productivity on their platform. Granted, while you can track your progress on a word or excel document, the integration and organization of Trello can be more attractive to use. As Joiner says, ” the name-of-the-game here is being able to easily see what is working and what’s not.”

There are a couple of different ways to disable an IPA schedule to stop it from running.  One way is to disable the process itself.  To do that, open User Defined Processes (Start > Process Server Administrator > Configuration > Process Definitions > User Defined Processes).  Select the process being disabled and clear the “Is Process Enabled” flag.  It is important to note that this method will cause the schedule to go into an error mode, and will have to be cleared and requeued when you are ready to start the schedule back up.

The other way is to set the Latest Time to Run on the schedule.  I like to set it to some date in the past (like yesterday) to make absolutely sure the schedule won’t run again.  When you click Save, the next time to run dates will clear.  To start the schedule back up again, simply clear out the Latest Time To Run and save the schedule.

When the internet became the main platform to market to consumers, the marketing landscape had to make significant changes. With social media, mobile applications, and virtual assistants becoming widely popular, marketers had to find ways to reach out to consumers faster and more effectively. Jacky Chou, guest writer at Entrepreneur.com, shares the biggest technologies that will reshape marketing in 2020 and beyond.

Big Data, AI and Quantum Computing
“AI thrives on mountains of information to fuel its continuous learning mechanisms, and once leveraged by the mind-bending processing speeds of quantum computers to tap ever-increasing sources of big data, its capacity to deliver unique insights, automate a multitude of tasks and even take over various decision-making aspects from humans will surge exponentially.”

Internet of Things
“Beacon technology, 5G, sophisticated sensors, self-driving cars, smart wearables and smart homes all just mark the beginning of a world where almost anything powered by electricity may be connected to each other and with the all-encompassing web, opening up deep-reaching tracking and engagement opportunities for marketers.”

Voice and Virtual Assistants
“A promising child of AI harnesses one of the most ancient forms of human interaction: voice. The likes of Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant are slowly morphing into a ubiquitous and most seamless UI that will change the way we find information, consume media and buy things.”

Augmented Reality
“Augmented Reality (AR) is set to play a huge role in enhancing the physical shopping experience of retail stores. More engaging shop displays, like Zara’s virtual catwalk that replaced mannequins in one of its stores, allow brands to make stronger emotional connections through interaction. Walmart enhanced its mobile app with an AR scanner, allowing the product-conscious customer to easily retrieve an item’s reviews or additional information.”

To trigger a process manually, you first have to set up a trigger.  From Rich Client, navigate to Start > Process Server Administrator > Scheduling > By Process Definition.  Click Actions > Create to create a new trigger.  For Process Name, select the IPA process that you want to run.  Enter a descriptive Work Title (the trigger will fail if it doesn’t have a Work Title).  Click Save.  Then, click Actions > Start.  Check the Work Unit log to see that your process has run!  If you want to delete your trigger, you will first need to delete the work units associated with it.
