Automotor Modernizes its Information System in the Cloud with Infor and its Partner Authentic Group

Infor recently announced that French-based Automotor, a market leader in the export of automotive parts, has chosen to deploy the Infor CloudSuite Distribution Enterprise ERP (enterprise resource planning) solution to cover all of its business needs in a single, centralized platform. Additionally, Automotor opted for the Authentic Distribution Solution (ADS), developed by Infor’s partner Authentic Group, to support the implementation and enrich it with high value-added services for the automotive distribution sector. Per the press release, the project to implement Infor’s solution, which is hosted by Amazon Web Services in the cloud, replaces a previously failed ERP project, which was, as Automotor’s management admits, poorly prepared. Infor technology partner Authentic Group will assist with the implementation. Further, Authentic Group suggested to Automotor’s teams that they opt for the Infor CloudSuite Distribution Enterprise solution, which is widely used among distribution professionals in France. Infor CloudSuite Distribution Enterprise is a multi-location, multi-company, multi-currency, multi-lingual solution that covers inventory and warehouse management, financial management, omnichannel order management, purchasing, services and more. Supporting 49 locations and 24 languages, the solution provides Automotor with the flexibility and scalability to easily enter new markets and adapt quickly to change.

AS400 Disk space usage

In AS400, it is convenient to know where all your data is distributed as well as how much disk space you have consumed and have leftover to use. If you want easy access to all this information at hand, all you need to do is run a simple command.

 

To get your AS400 Disk space usage, use the following command in your green screen command line:

 

Dspsyssts

 

On the right-hand top corner, you will see the sizes listed. You can run this command as often as you need to keep track of your disk space usage on a daily (or periodic) basis.

Infor Partners with NMIS to Power Model Digital Factory

Infor recently announced a new a long-term strategic partnership agreement with the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS). Per the press release, this investment will underpin the development of Model Digital Factory Demonstrators (MDFD) for the NMIS Digital Factory environment at the new NMIS 11,500-square-meter headquarters. Additionally, Infor will be funding dedicated MDFDs that will showcase end-to-end manufacturing use cases in the NMIS Digital Factory environment, which will integrate with the facility’s IT backbone and the digital and automation cells. This demonstrates how modern, advanced technology and solutions can help companies automate processes and transform workplaces. Further, Chris Dungey, research director at NMIS, says of the partnership with Infor, “I am delighted Infor has decided to join the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland’s community and is committed to working with us to transform manufacturing in Scotland and the wider UK.”

How to refresh data for an LBI dashboard report

Typically when you click on an LBI report that’s been setup on the dashboard, it will show you data of the last generated instance.  To add a refresh is incredibly easy.

 

First login to LBI and go to the dashboard you want to modify a report on. When you click it, you’ll see something like:

To allow the report to refresh data, select the plus sign >> Edit

You’ll see a URL field, all you need to do is add &Refresh=True to the end of the URL and click save.

The URL may look something like this:

FSRemote%3Ffsid%3DRS%3ARS-COMPANY%20Reporting%20Services%3A25%26

Now add %Refresh=True at the end of it like below:

FSRemote%3Ffsid%3DRS%3ARS-COMPANY%20Reporting%20Services%3A25%26&Refresh=True

 

Done! Now the report will always pull up the parameters (if any) so you can see the latest data:

What To Look For In An ERP Technology Partner

One of the biggest changes in the digital side of business for many is deciding what to do with their current enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Namely, is now the time to switch to a new platform? More importantly, should you switch from on-premise to the cloud? With all these decisions revolving around ERP, another thing to consider is choosing the right partner for this project. ERP deployment is no small task – this project takes a lot of time, labor, and employee commitment. The right ERP partner would be able to help you implement your system as well as teach your users how to navigate the new systems. Likewise, the best ERP partners will have round the clock support for you even during and after implementation. Kevin Beasley, CIO at VAI, shares an article on Forbes on what to look for when choosing an ERP technology partner. Below are some questions to ask when selecting the firm to implement your new ERP system.

  1. Will the provider offer personalized, ongoing support? “Ideally, a provider should designate a team of experts for your project for start-to-finish support. Post-deployment is a crucial time for providers to check in with you, offer additional training and determine whether adjustments are required.”

If they aren’t willing to tailor your implementation project to your particular needs, then they aren’t the right fit for you. AS400 recdef jobs listing

There is not a delivered report that you can run to list out your recdef jobs. The file that holds the recdef data is called recurjob in your Gen Database Collection.

 

To get a report of all recurring jobs that are set up in recdef on AS400, follow these instructions:

From the AS400 command line type; CALL LAWENV  hit enter and choose the subsystem in which you want to dump the records from.

qsh

rngdbdump -c GEN recurjob > /home/userprofile/recdef.csv (a dump of all recurring jobs that exist in recdef)

You can now use the wrklnk command to look in the directory listed in the rngdbdump command above to see the csv file that was created with these recurjob records.

wrklnk ‘/home/userprofile/recdef.csv’  place a 2 next to the file and hit enter

or

map a drive to your IBM i  root directory via Windows Explorer and open the .csv file from there.

or

use the System i  Navigator to open the file

Scott Electric Selects Infor CloudSuite Distribution to Help Boost Operational Efficiency and Customer Service

Infor recently announced that Scott Electric Co., one of the largest independent electrical distributors in the U.S., has selected Infor CloudSuite Distribution to help boost operational efficiency and customer service. This move will hopefully improve the company’s ability to attract and retain new employees. Per the press release, Scott Electric has been conducting business primarily through manual, paper-based processes, which slows its ability to deliver products and services to customers. With Infor CloudSuite Distribution, Scott Electric will move to a next-generation, cloud-based ERP (enterprise resource planning) system that will automate everything from pricing and inventory visibility to product/service delivery and invoicing. This new system will be easier for employees to manage and get their jobs done so they can focus on value-added work. Additionally, moving away from a legacy ERP system will help the company capture more market share and continue to grow its business. Further plans include looking at how Infor Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology could help augment its business. Such technology could be used to help more quickly and efficiently train new employees, who don’t have years of experience in the electrical distribution industry to draw from.
