Noticed Unreleased and Posted Journal Entry in a Closed Period

Issue:

Noticed unreleased and posted journal Entry in a closed period, unable to close the year end books.

 

Resolution:

1. Company 2 period 11 was opened for back posting and journal entries were added, GL190 and GL199 were ran to reclose period 11. Company 2 Period 11 currently shows Limited Close.
2. There are two journal entries added currently in Posted and Unreleased status. Users want to delete one entry and to set the other to Historical.
3. The system should not have allowed us to close the period if there are journal entries not in Posted status. When GL199 closed the period, it should have changed all the Posted status to History. There were cases where the Period status in GL10 was changed manually in Back post button (from B to L) which could have been the cause for this case.
4. Reopened GL10 company 2 for period 11-year 2025 for back posting. Deleted the entry from GL45, then run GL199 for company 2, period 11 of year 2025. GL199 successfully reclosed period 11 and changed the status of posted to History.
