Use IPA FTP Node to Transfer Multiple Files

When you are using IPA to transfer files, there may be some cases where you need to pick up multiple files, or where you need to get files for which you only know a partial name (such as a file that contains a date/timestamp).  To get multiple or masked files, you can supply an asterisk (*) in the filename as a wildcard.  Then, the destination file should actually be a directory name (of a directory that exists).  All files that are picked up in the FTP process will be placed in that directory, and you can use them from there.

How to Maximize Filezilla FTP Transfer Speed

  1. First, ensure that the Transfer mode is set to Passive in FileSite Manager Transfer Settings

Passive mode is the recommended mode for client computers behind NAT or proxy. In active mode, the client must accept connection from the FTP server. In passive mode, the client always initiates the connection.
  2. Change Maximum Simultaneous Transfers to 10 in EditSettings Transfers

As the name suggests, this increases the number of concurrent transfers that can occur to 10.

If these tips do not improve your Filezilla transfer speed, it is probably due to some limit on your ISP or on the server you are connecting to. Some hosts place tight restrictions on FTP speeds so it may be worth contacting your ISP.

How to Fix Lawson Backoffice Publish Issue

How to Fix Lawson Backoffice Publish Issue

This is a simple fix but sometimes hard to determine even if you’ve reviewed the Infor documentation.

So first lets make sure your FTP settings are setup correctly:

Lets assume you already published your report in LBI, for us we are doing CU201 for testing:

We run the job again so it will publish automatically via backoffice:

The broadcast.csv and published.csv shows the CU201 report being transferred but the Instance is NOT being created.

Give your Lawson Backoffice user write/read access to the LSF %LAWDIR% directory as well as FTP access to \Lawsonprod_Apps which most have setup already.

You should now see the instance created when you run the same CU201 job:

Creating a better Employee Self-Service Screen in v10

Many v10 Employee Self-Service (ESS) users don’t particularly like the bookmarks bar compared to v9.

A simple fix for this is to make simple modifications to the ESS portal role.

To make this portal role truly a employee self-service screen, limit it further as shown below:

Make sure you also set your product line in options and enable it.  Here are the option settings we use:

Once done, this is what your ESS only users will see:

There is much more to play with here and it is not limited to ESS only, but this is a simple modification.  Enjoy!
