The ICSEGMENT is the first part of a four part item hierarchy structure. The ICSEGMENT is the top level of the hierarchy. All levels of the hierarchy are two characters. This hierarchy also can be used to store UNSPSC codes and descriptions.
IIC-ICFAMILY

ICFAMILY is the second level of the product hierarchy. If the ICFAMILY field has a 00 in it, this indicates that this code is for describing the segment. If there is a 00 the code parts below this should also be 00.
IIC-ICCLASS

ICCLASS is the third level of the hierarchy. If this is 00 and the code parts below this are 00, then this code is for describing the ICFAMILY field level.
IIC-ICCOMMODITY

ICCOMMODITY is the fourth and last level of the hierarchy. All levels of the hierarchy must be entered for a item, it cannot split and only certain levels used. The hierarchy will remain an optional field when entering items. When this field contains 00, the code is for describing the ICCLASS level of the hierarchy.

The sdesc is a shortened description. It based on the long description. It is needed for screens that cannot display the long description.

IIC-ICCODE-ACTIVE

Alpha 1
This code defines whether any item is currently using this code. As long as this code is on one item it is considered active. The exception to is for codes that contain 00 which is used for describing levels of the codes.
Y = Code is used for an item
N = Code is not currently used
